    Le ministère de l'Éducation du Japon est sur la sellette suite à des révélations selon lesquelles il a fait pression sur des universités pour qu'elles engagent des fonctionnaires partant à la retraite, une pratique appelée amakudari (descente du ciel), officiellement interdite au Japon. Fin 2016, des preuves accablantes ont révélé que le ministère a tenté de dissimuler son implication dans le cas d'un fonctionnaire du ministère partant à la retraite et ayant obtenu un emploi à l'Université Waseda, en distribuant des réponses aux questions anticipées afin que toutes les personnes impliquées puissent fournir un démenti cohérent.
