    Selon les informations révélées par les fameux « Paradise Papers », des universités d’élite américaines et britanniques ont investi leurs dotations dans des fonds offshore pour échapper à l’impôt ou acquitter un montant minime. Pour la Fossil Free Pitt Coalition, gérée par des étudiants, « le manque de transparence est inquiétant puisque nous ignorons tout du devenir de deux tiers des dotations – et nous avons des doutes quant à la destination d’une grande partie de ces fonds. » Un professeur émérite de l’université d’Essex a déclaré dans un journal britannique que les universités du pays devaient faire preuve d’une plus grande transparence quant à leurs décisions d’investissement, puisque ce sont des établissements publics destinataires de dotations publiques, y compris en provenance de l’Union européenne.
