    D’après l’ONG Transparency International, 66 % des fonds que le gouvernement nigérian alloue à l’éducation sont dérobés par des responsables corrompus. Mauvaise attribution des ressources, procédures d’achat détournées, rapports sexuels contre bonnes notes, malversations en matière d’examens, faux diplômes, absentéisme des enseignants et pratiques de recrutement corrompues sont autant d’exemples des défis que doit relever le secteur éducatif. Cette situation compromet la qualité de l’éduction, l’inclusion et les résultats d’apprentissage, avec des conséquences catastrophiques pour la croissance économique du pays.

    L'IIPE a formé plus de 2 200 personnes dans le domaine de la transparence, de la responsabilité et des mesures de lutte contre la corruption dans l'éducation depuis 2003. Du 4 au 6 octobre 2018, l'Institut a organisé, en collaboration avec NEPC, un nouveau cours régional sur ce thème à Tbilissi pour des équipes nationales d'Azerbaïdjan, Croatie, Estonie, Géorgie, Moldavie et Mongolie.
