    L'établissement universitaire de Compton s'est vu retirer son accréditation par la Western Association of Schools and Colleges en juin. L'organisme régional d'accréditation a justifié sa décision de révoquer l'accréditation de l'établissement au motif d'une gouvernance médiocre, de l'absence de projets éducatifs, du manque d'encadrement des étudiants et d'un personnel administratif insuffisant. C'est désormais l'État de Californie, où le système est pourtant très décentralisé, qui contrôle l'établissement.
