The video reports that teachers had to play by new rules as the Education Service Commission, responsible for recruiting government teachers in Uganda, reviewed its rules and regulations after 20 years. While it addresses teacher promotion and the teacher-parent relationship, the main emphasis has been placed on teacher's behavior.

The Tanzanian government has disbanded the Education Materials Approval Committee (EMAC) due to poor performance and corruption. A government representative stated that the EMAC will be replaced with "another strong organ", and the government will review all education materials approved by the EMAC.

Members of the National Anti-Corruption Coalition (CNLCC), a satellite of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) – a concertation forum of activities of civil society associations created in 2008 – has carried out a field inspection mission of classroom construction projects found throughout the national territory.

"The battle against corruption should be taken to schools in order to confront the vice at an early stage", stated a Ugandan Parliament Speaker. She also pointed out that Uganda has suffered repercussions of this vice for a long time, which is why youth should be sensitized to corruption and its effects to avoid the pitfalls of their parents.

In an attempt to curb unregistered teachers, The Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRC) has recently mandated that any teacher in the Imo region caught without the proper qualifications will be fired and prosecuted by the state and that schools not meeting required standards would be closed down.

In a rural district of Uganda, almost half of all teachers were absent on a typical school day. The African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) trained a few student leaders in each school to take attendance of everyone, including teachers. As a result, teacher absenteeism has dropped to ten percent in this district.

Malindi's deputy District Education Officer has asked head teachers to ensure that students complete the syllabus in time. He said failure by teachers to complete the syllabus early hurts the students' performance in national exams. She said completing the syllabus in time will encourage good performance and curb any irregularities in the exam.
