Improving transparency and accountability are crucial measures in the fight against corruption. For the education sector, this is no exception as corruption can impede access and undermine equity and quality. However, several tools exist to help education stakeholders, including civil society actors, take steps to hold service providers accountable and improve education service oversight and delivery.
Tackling corruption in education is essential to reaching equitable and inclusive quality education for all. IIEP-UNESCO is unveiling a new version of ETICO, the online platform to support educational policy-makers and planners with identifying and overcoming corruption in the sector. The site features everything from guidelines, interactive tools, training materials, to a blog featuring the latest ideas from the global anti-corruption community.
Representatives from the education and health sectors, and donor agencies working in both sectors in Bangladesh, expressed genuine determination to address corruption at the three-day workshop on Strengthening integrity and transparency in the education and health sectors in Bangladesh, held in Savar, Bangladesh from 31 March to 2 April 2014.
