The director of the Office of Anti-Corruption in Public Area 3, said that ten more north-eastern schools have been found with bogus students on their rolls, allegedly to facilitate the directors' transfer to well-known medium- and large-sized schools where parents are willing to pay admission bribes. This probe followed an investigation at Kham Sakae Saeng School in Nakhon Ratchasima where its new director found a list of 196 "ghost students" suspected of being put on the roll to get more government subsidies.

The Monterrey Institute of Technology has been investigated for issuing fake diplomas. The Institute denies the accusations and explains that the paper and signatures used on the fake diplomas do not match their official documents.

British medical authorities acknowledged on Monday that they were checking the credentials of some 3,000 foreign physicians after one was convicted of fraud and accused of falsifying qualifications. A physician used a qualification from her native New Zealand for more than two decades which enabled her to treat patients suffering from dementia and an array of other psychiatric complaints. However, in recent weeks, an investigation by a provincial newspaper uncovered a very different version of her background.

According to Slovak media the Speaker of the Slovakian Parliament has been accused of having copied his JuDR doctoral thesis in law from five other sources. The politician put his thesis in the university library under embargo, when the accusations first arose. Comenius University announced that a doctoral dissertation with the same title and same number of pages was missing in its university archive and that an enquiry has been launched.

High-ranking government officials attended an ostentatious ceremony held by the president on Tuesday where he ordered that 954 teachers found to have been teaching at 1081 schools across the country be given permanent positions at the Ministry effective from that day. Early October 1626 positions out of 6448 were found to be ghost 'employees' by the Somaliland Civil Service Commission (SCSC ). Out of that number, 954 were found on Ministry of Education payrolls, a number that did not physically exist but whose salaries were being drawn fraudulently. Neither the government nor the SCSC charged anybody on the grand theft of public resources.

Taiwan’s Minister of Education has resigned over his refusal to sign off the highly controversial appointment of a new president for National Taiwan University (NTU) until key questions surrounding the appointment had been cleared up. The new president was due to take the helm of the prestigious university on 1 February. However, there were allegations of a conflict of interest in the university’s process of electing him and separate allegations of plagiarism.

After an attempt to cheat in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, the Teachers Service Commission has commenced disciplinary action against errant teachers of a Kisii school, Nairobi. The Teachers Service Commission Chief Executive said seven teachers and a school principal are already facing action. Capital FM News established that a Chemistry paper had been sneaked out of the examination room but was quickly confiscated when the attempt to compromise the exam occurred at Monianku Secondary School.
