The identification of all the properties originally meant for the education sector in Blida which had been diverted from their original purpose has, over the past few years, allowed for important assets to be recover for the sector and those that work within it, indicated the head of education of the Wilaya on Monday. The operation, which has been going on for two years throughout the Wilaya, has enabled the recovery of a number of land assets and their exploitation for the good of the education sector.

A NSW government minister has launched a blistering attack on the federal government's administration of the scandal-ridden private vocational education sector. The sector has been plagued by allegations of dodgy private providers recruiting tens of thousands of students through free laptops and targeting illiterate, disabled students to sign them up to tens of thousands of dollars worth of taxpayer-funded student debt through the federal government's HECS-style VET-FEE help program.

Seoul's education authority is conducting an intensive crackdown on corrupt practices in the hiring of teachers at private elementary, middle and high schools. In this process, it is said that close ties with school foundation officials, or even bribes, often become the decisive factor in landing a job.

Starting this year, the Bihar government will transfer the benefits of education schemes such as scholarships and school uniforms, as well as social welfare schemes such as old age and widow pensions, directly to the beneficiaries to reduce red tape and the possibility of mid-level officials pocketing part of the benefits. Against the backdrop of the recent closure of Nodos International School, Ojo, by the Lagos State government over alleged involvement in examination malpractices during a national Examinations Council (NECO) Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations, the Principal of the school has been relieved of his job. Okafor also stated that all the teaching staff that were also found complicit in the examinations malpractices that led to the closure of the school have also been asked to resign their appointments.

The North West provincial Government welcomes the release of an interim investigation report conducted on the sale of promotional posts in the various provinces. The Investigation was commissioned by the Minister of Basic Education following an outcry in provinces where this practice was purported to be prevalent.
