Several themes were discussed of which the integrated strategy of the fight against corruption in the education sector and the financing of education by the State at the local level, teachers' salaries, etc.

The consequences of teacher absenteeism are dramatic for the quality of teaching, and Uganda has taken drastic measures to combat the problem. The report brings together a researcher from UNESCO's Education for All Global Monitoring Report and a doctor in Sociology and Education Policy from the ENS in Abidjan.

This tool, called "Action for Transparency", provides data on budget allocations to schools and health centres. The application's website provides a platform for the community to easily denounce acts of corruption. 

An anti-corruption mechanism has been set up in three Côte d'Ivoire towns (Divo, Korhogo and Bouaké). This is a toll-free number that allows victims of corruption in schools to report the perpetrators and any acts of corruption without risk of reprisals.

The Director General of Transparency International Africa talks about the fight against corruption in schools. She looks more specifically at the situation in Côte d'Ivoire, and the extent of "endemic corruption". In her view, the responsibility for fighting corruption lies with all citizens, and governments have a responsibility to give young people the space to act.

Produced by the World Bank, the video is a report documenting anti-corruption initiatives in Cameroon. These initiatives are aimed at resolving problems of poor governance in the areas of health and education. For example, the "fair of ideas" competition involves awarding small donations to civil society organisations to combat corruption and encourage citizens to demand better health and education services.
