Students who cheat in exams could now face fines of up to AED200,000.

Two Norwegian politicians face plagiarism accusations regarding their master's theses, leading to investigations by their universities. The scandals have sparked debates over academic integrity, with calls for stricter penalties for plagiarism. The incidents have also raised concerns about the treatment of students versus politicians and the need for national regulations on plagiarism. Experts stress the importance of promoting ethical research norms and integrity within universities.

With exams just around the corner, students from Bournemouth University talk about what academic integrity means to them, how using it means they get better marks, how to avoid committing an academic offence and where to get help when they need it.

Relying solely on a code of ethics for teachers may not be sufficient to combat violence, as a cultural reform within the educational system is required. This reform should include the participation of psychologists and counselors, in collaboration with various educational sectors. 

The Minister of Education has presented a code of ethics to improve the relationship between students and teachers and school employees.  The aim is to ensure that this relationship is strictly academic and of formative service, and to prohibit any type of treatment that does not contribute to the integral development of students. 

Fontys University in the Netherlands is keen to teach students to think about the impact and use of educational technology through the Moral Design Game. Based on scientific insights, the game challenges players to think about the dominant values that various stakeholders draw on to make decisions. The goal of the game is to inspire and teach students, teachers, and staff to improve their thinking and debate ethical questions.

A recently published survey study of PhD students in Denmark reveals that an ethically questionable culture for assigning authorships to research papers is widespread within the medical and natural sciences across Europe. 49% of the PhD students in medical sciences had granted guest authorship to a person in power while 42% were in the natural and technical sciences.
