    The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made teaching and organizing online examinations a difficult task in Vietnamese universities. Examiners had to introduce various methods to deal with the increase in cheating. Students are required to attend an examination on the university's systems with supervision via Zoom and have their papers recognized if they are physically present throughout the examination. If cheating is discovered, teachers have the right to suspend students.

    Former university principal in Hanoi prosecuted for issuing over 400 fake degrees

    A former director and two former deputy directors of Dong Do University in Vietnam were prosecuted for issuing hundreds of fake degrees and illegally earning more than US$310,000. The indictment also points out that the Ministry of Education and Training failed to carry out its responsibilities in monitoring the implementation of regulations on university enrolment and training.

    Private university academics dismissed for plagiarism

    Two Ho Chi Min City university academics have lost their positions after they were found plagiarising content from an international peer-reviewed journal. They confessed that for one of their published articles, they had translated 80% of the original article without getting the author’s permission or citing his work as the source.
