    Peruvian universities to teach on fighting corruption

    Eleven Peruvian universities will teach their students how to fight corruption, using emblematic cases registered in the last 30 years as the basis. The President of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference and the Latin American Episcopal Council who presented the course described the problem of corruption as a social virus that infects public and private institutions and undermines the resources needed by the state to address the fight against poverty.

    The commitment and effort of Ministry of Education ( Minedu ) officials were recognized during the awards ceremony of the contest "Best Practices in Public and Anticorruption Management in Education 2015" which this year honoured the winners of three categories. In this fourth version of the contest thirty-eight good practices were presented, which were evaluated by an ad hoc committee based on criteria such as planning, replicability and sustainability.

    Corruption-free education: lessons from a State and civil society joint initiative in Peru

    A recent anti-corruption initiative targeting Peru's education sector was undertaken jointly by the Office of the Ombudsman and Transparency International's chapter in Peru, Proética. The initiative sought to help shape the public discussion surrounding educational reform by introducing the issue of corruption – one of several factors undermining the fundamental right of all to quality education. This U4 Brief reviews the initiative's methodology, findings, and lessons learned, including an overview of successful advocacy efforts targeting national educational authorities.
