    Establishment of a commission to follow up on the application of the code of ethics

    The national education minister announced in Alger on Wednesday that a joint commission would be set up to follow up on the application of the code of ethics signed at the end of November 2015 by the ministry and union representatives from the sector. The implementation of this commission, which counts among its member representatives from the ministry, unions and parent teacher associates, aims to follow up on the effective application on the ground of the different clauses of the code. The commission will be tasked with finding the mechanisms which will “make this code effective, in particular at the local level”.

The challenge for families is that these education agents charge exorbitant fees and misrepresent partner schools. They convince their clients of the need to ‘enhance’ an application using fraudulent documents, such as altered or fake transcripts and adviser-written statements of purpose.

    On 9 and 10 October 2019, IIEP participated in the Regional Consultation on teaching standards organized by the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030. The purpose of this consultation was for key education stakeholders to review and comment on an “international guidance framework for elaborating national or regional teaching standards to support countries in stepping up their progress on increasing the supply of qualified teachers”.
